Rovers Trust Secretary

Rovers Trust is a new and hugely exciting organisation whose principal aim is to obtain full or part ownership of Blackburn Rovers Football Club and its assets, on behalf of fellow supporters in order to represent supporters’ views whilst protecting the club’s short and long term future. Our philosophy is to be open to all; democratic and inclusive, independent in thinking and decision-making, and to have our membership be as affordable and accessible to as many supporters as possible.

The Rovers Trust Steering Group are currently looking for a Secretary. It is a hugely time consuming position and requires a great degree of commitment and dedication, up to date IT skills, and as the position is unpaid and voluntary, a passion for Blackburn Rovers would obviously be considered hugely relevant.

Description Of Role

The Rovers Trust Secretary should assist and guide the other Steering Group officers in their pursuit of the growth and development of Rovers Trust, but should also act with integrity and independence to protect the interests of Rovers Trust and its members. The right candidate will be expected to play a proactive and central role in the governance of Rovers Trust. This requires excellent communication skills, a thorough knowledge of the Trust’s business and applicable regulations, strength of character, integrity, and a professional approach at all times.

The Rovers Trust Secretary is a key position in the governance and administration of the Trust’s affairs. The Secretary will be readily available to Steering Group officers to provide advice and assistance at all times, and is responsible to the Steering Group for ensuring that Rovers Trust procedures are followed and that applicable rules and regulations are complied with.

The Secretary is key to the efficiency and effectiveness of the group and to the smooth running of the organisation. To fulfil the role, the Rovers Trust Secretary must not only keep up to date with relevant legal, statutory and regulatory requirements but also be able to give impartial advice and support other Steering Group officers.
